Rug Care and Maintenance

To maintain the pristine condition of your rugs, it is recommended to promptly clean up spills and gently blot the stain with a clean white cloth. For wool rugs, use lukewarm water, and avoid using water or liquid on Viscose and Tencel rugs. Rinse with clean water and use dry towels to absorb any remaining moisture.

Vacuum using canister vacuums without beater bars or gentle brooms, and for high-powered upright vacuums, use the handheld attachment or turn off the beater bar. Avoid vacuuming over the edges and fringes, and if the rug is reversible, vacuum both sides and use the handheld attachment for the fringes.

Addressing Folds and Curls

If your new area rug arrives with slightly curved corners due to packing, simply lay it out upside down for a couple of days to allow the fibers to relax and flatten naturally. Alternatively, you can place a heavy object, such as a book or a piece of furniture, on each corner for a couple of days to smooth out the curves, but be cautious of tripping hazards.

Shag Rug Care

For shag rugs, use spray extraction with a wool-approved product for cleaning. Shedding is normal and will decrease over time, so do not pull the yarn out, as this may damage the rug. Canister vacuums without a beater bar are the most effective in cleaning shag rugs, as vacuums with beater bars and/or brushes, or those set too low, may damage the rug.
